Uniquely, the consultancy offers the opportunity for clients to explore the use of near Infrared (NIR) analysis as a cost effective means of measuring product and/or process consistency and quality control parameters and in aiding the development of continuous improvement programmes.
This service is offered to those clients who which wish to explore independently
the use of the technique in raw materials, process and product control;
-
the benefits in ‘quality performance’,
-
time and costs savings that can be achieved
-
or just understanding more about the 'science' of their processes
without the need for the loan of an instrument or needing a member of staff trained and dedicated to carrying out the assessment project.
The near-infrared analysis technique is already in use across a wide variety of organic chemical- related or food industries.
-
Building materials
-
Pharmaceuticals
-
Agriculture, animal feeds
-
Dairy products
-
Cosmetics
-
Oils, fragrances
-
Organic chemicals, oil refineries
-
Inks, paints
-
Plastics, rubbers
The list of application areas continues to grow as the need to continually reduce production costs rolls on and to guarantee process and product quality and consistency by means other than the traditional laboratory techniques.
The technique involves taking spectral measurements of the 'product' and analysing the data statistically to detect areas of difference between products of the same type or of different types. The technique is non invasive, can be used in the laboratory environment or alternatively on-line or at-line, and sample spectra can be measured through transparent containers or by simply dipping the measurement probe into the sample to be measured. Measurement can be carried out by non-laboratory-trained personnel.
On a qualitative level, the technique can demonstrate how consistent a raw material or product is or tell you that the product is not what it is supposed to be !!
On a quantitative level, the technique can measure the actual level of a component in a particular product in far less time than traditional (wet chemistry) techniques, generally without any sample preparation, without the use of solvents, and taking out handling and weighing errors i.e. it is far more precise in the given result.
Cromar (NIR) Solutions can help by:
- Introducing
clients to the use of the technique, at a competitive cost, for qualitative
and quantitative analysis by carrying out feasibility studies on your samples
-
Providing case-data for future capital investment in the equipment
-
Developing initial product methods
-
Helping clients to understand the 'science' of their 'processes' through managing and maintaining methods on a contract basis should they not decide to invest in the technology themselves.
-
Helping long term with intermittent need for analysis (problem solving) based on initial methods
-
Creating directly transferable models should the client purchase Büchi equipment in the future
-
Bringing clients into contact with the most appropriate equipment supplier for possible investment to meet your long term needs.
Please note: Cromar Solutions Ltd has no specific commercial arrangements with Buchi UK ; it just happens to be the equipment it has !!)
